Examples of web design work
Designing websites started off as a hobby to give me something to do when I graduated from university. It was something I had always been interested in learning about but didn't have time to do until my studies finished. The main ones I have worked on (other than this) are shown below. All my websites are now laid out using HTML and CSS styles and validate through W3C.
Contrast
Photography
Nancy Alford is a photographer from Sheffield who wanted a way of helping to show off her work, and allow other people to order both prints that are ready to hang on your wall, as well as commission work which is more individual and unique. This website contains some of her most impressive work as well as details of the different photographic work she can undertake.
Apex
Challenge
The Apex Challenge is a twice-yearly Scout competition which I help to organise as part of a team of three. My main contribution is designing and maintaining the website which is the only way for teams to register to take part in the event. It contains past event results and photos as well as all the necessary details for those teams who have booked their place to compete.
SarahandDave.co.uk
Never intended as a serious website, this deliberately tacky design for two friends marking their engagement was designed as an ironic nod to the many couples who feel the need to put online every intimate detail of their wedding preparation.
Classof98.co.uk
A website to help organise a school reunion for my year group which finished A levels at Whitby Community College in 1998. The site has already been used to gather opinions about the night itself and will also be used to coordinate online bookings.
Synergise
Synergise was South Yorkshire Scouts' Centenary Experience. Thousands of people involved in Scouting from all over the county got together in May 2007 to celebrate the organisation's centenary in an event that mirrored others around the world. This site gave information about the event and allowed groups and individuals to register to take part in the once in a lifetime event. (This site was designed using tables though all my sites now use CSS layout.)
If you have an idea for a website you would like developing please get in touch and I will let you know if I can be any help to you.
