Real Radio equipmentBetween February 2003 and August 2008 I was part of the award winning team at Real Radio Yorkshire where I worked as a reporter and newsreader. During my time there the team enjoyed huge success at industry awards ceremonies and was regarded as one of the best radio newsrooms in the country.

I enjoyed putting together the everyday reports on the sorts of issues important to the station's target audience and trying to make them both interesting and engaging. As well as these more run-of-the-mill stories there are several notable highlights that I am immensely proud of.

In 2006 I travelled to America to report on the final week of Jane Tomlinson's fundraising bike ride which started two months earlier in San Francisco and eventually finished in New York. The reports I put together also formed the basis of a 40 minute documentary about Jane's fundraising which was broadcast the following year and again repeated following her death.

This is a compilation of my reports from 2006 which includes my coverage of Jane Tomlinson's bike ride across America, the effects of a terror alert on Yorkshire's airports in August and a dawn drugs raid in December:

I was the only radio reporter to cover the entire trial of David Bieber, the former American bouncer who murdered Leeds police officer Ian Broadhurst on Boxing Day 2003. This culminated in a half hour long documentary on the day he was convicted. This compilation of my reports from 2005 includes that and other stories:
